Alexis Wiley is the founder and principal of Moment Strategies, a Detroit based firm specializing in public relations and issue advocacy.

With nearly 20 years of experience in TV news media, government, corporate and community relations, Alexis is a skilled strategist who knows how to develop and deliver an effective message that connects with the needs of the greater community, gains buy in and makes an impact.

Alexis spent six years serving the City of Detroit as Mayor Mike Duggan’s chief of staff and one of the longest serving members of his executive team. In her time in City Hall, Alexis led some of the city’s most transformational initiatives such as the creation of the Detroit Water Fund, the City of Detroit’s first multimillion dollar fund to help low income Detroit residents pay their water bills and avoid water shut offs. She also led the citywide expansion of Grow Detroit’s Young Talent, a summer employment program for Detroit youth, and the legislative effort that paved the way to the first major investment in the long vacant Michigan Central Train Depot and the multimillion dollar expansion of Southwest Detroit’s Riverside Park.  In addition to leading key initiatives, Alexis restructured the City of Detroit’s communications division in an effort to make it function more like a 24/7 newsroom, consistently generating compelling content that resonated with our citizens and the media. The impact of these efforts led to Alexis’ distinction as a Crain’s Detroit Business “40 Under 40” leader and one of “50 Names to Know in Government”.

While evangelizing Detroit’s gains, city issues, and discussing political topics, Alexis applies in-depth experience and public influence as a media spokesperson with local as well as national outlets and a substantial following on social media. Her thought leadership in crisis communications and media relations, honed during her noteworthy broadcast journalism career, ensured a seamless transition to public service from journalism. Change-inspiring contributions in her decade of reporting include Emmy-winning  exposure of government waste, coverage of disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, and reporting on abuse violations.

Underscoring her passion for service, she represented Michigan as an at large member of the Democratic National Committee and served on the  Budget and Finance Committee,  working with the organization’s national chairperson and the Executive Committee.

Alexis is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Greater Wayne County Chapter of The Links Incorporated. She serves on the boards of The Empowerment Plan,  a nonprofit that provides employment and training to homeless parents who manufacture sleeping bag coats for those in need and Jefferson East, Inc.,   a multi-service neighborhood organization that serves low-income populations on Detroit's east side and five historic adjoining neighborhoods.
